The most common cause of the dishwasher not properly draining is a clogged hose or pump strainer. After checking them and the blockage is too hard to remove than the hose may need to be replaced. If those check out to be in good condition than make sure that the door latch is completely closed and locked. When the door isn’t closed or locked properly it won’t drain the water.
Double check to make sure the dishwasher is plugged in properly and getting power because that could be a simple problem with a really easy fix. It will also be very frustrating to find out that was the problem after paying money to get it fixed or even inspecting all the components for damage or issues.

Another step to solving the problem is to check the motor, listen for a hum while the dishwasher is running. If there is a hum than this means the motor is receiving power but it is not turning. The motor may need to be replaced in this case.

Cleaning out the filter or checking the valves, motor, pump, belts, and the drain line to make sure those are all accurately working will help you find the cause as well. Any of those may need to be tightened, cleaned or worn and may need to be replaced. Always cleaning the filter, hoses and strainer could help prevent the dishwasher from not draining or prevent other damage.
